The Garden

The garden has been developed by the current owners over the last 18 years.

On entering the garden at the side of the house, you come to a curved patio area bounded by two beds - one with Yuccas, Phormiums, Spanish Reed and a Cypress tree, the other has a Loquat, Acacia and Vine.

Off the patio is the raised Agave bed, gravel area with grasses and palms. Next to this is a Bamboo 'grove' with over 6 types of tall bamboos and a small wildlife pond surrounded by two types of Gunnera.

Wildlife area and wildlife pond

In the middle of the garden is a Koi pond. This is enclosed by low-growing bamboos, and various Bananas. Between the pod and the back of the house is a large bed of 5 Chinese Windmill palms, European fan palms and a number of Phormiums.

Koi pond

The far corner of the garden being quite shady has Tree Ferns and more Bamboos, under planted with ground cover lily turf and Aspidistras.

Path to koi pond

On the right-hand side of the house is a long border with Bananas, more Chinese Windmill palms and Torbay palms.

In the right hand corner is another shaded corner with Bananas, Lily turf and a background of brightly covered walls.

Banana flower just before fruit appears

We fairly regularly get real banana fruit growing normally later in the season (not edible as these are from the common hardy banana - Musa basjoo)
